Set at the crest of Rua Dom Pedro V, in the storied Massarelos district, Dom Pedro V Residences stands as one of the eight architectural landmarks of Porto. Designed by Adriano Pimenta — whose career was shaped by fifteen years alongside Eduardo Souto de Moura and the coordination of Metro do Porto — and featured in ArchDaily and Archello, this is a project that belongs to the city's architectural canon as much as it belongs to those who call it home.
The development unfolds across 2,900 sqm of ancient granite walls that follow three surrounding streets and trace the contours of Porto's urban topography. At its heart, a centuries-old granite manor has been sensitively restored and reimagined as Casa Dom Pedro, a boutique guesthouse offering seven suites across two floors, complete with a pool and shared outdoor spaces. Around it, three new concrete structures — Casa Jardim, Casa Terraço, and Casa Boavista — introduce 25 homes ranging from one to three bedrooms, each with private access to patios, balconies, or secluded gardens. Granite terraces and retaining walls were redesigned, merging old stone with new concrete and vegetation suspended from beams, creating a landscape that feels both rooted and elevated.
The east-facing orientation preserves privacy and calm, while privileged views over the Douro River reward those who look up from the terraces of Dom Pedro V.
The interiors carry the personal signature of João Santos, founder of Lovely Memories — a mark of authorship that transforms each residence into a curated experience rather than simply a furnished space.
